Have you ever read or seen something where you get so excited you just want to tell everyone you know? Yeah. That's geeking out.

Hole in the Wall
There's something about finding a new store of your favorite stuff, whether it be yarn or comics or whatever else you're into, it's just awesome. Today I went to a new yarn store, one of my favorite comic/game stores and a new comic book store. The 2nd comic book store had comics and collectible trading cards from the 90's if not earlier. It was one of those places that you really had to look for what you wanted but there's a good chance they'll have it..unless it's Doctor Who of course. The downside was it was in the sketchyist strip mall I've ever seen. Nudie bar then tattoo shop, smoke shop, fireworks store then the comic store. Yeah. But I love the feeling of finding something you never expected to find, like the Beauty and the Beast comics from the early 1990's. It's just fun. :)

Gamer Girl....?
I call myself a gamer. I've played games all my life (Mario, Donkey Kong, Pong, Sesame Street Counting Game that I can't remember the name of, Kingdom Hearts, WoW, card games, board games, and most recently D&D) but I'm not the type of gamer to learn all about the games that are coming out and need to play every game and every expansion that comes out. I'm the type of gamer that plays games. I like the togetherness of some games, I like the solitude of others. But I always feel like a fraud when people start talking about new video games or a new RPG and I have NO idea what they're talking about. But I love gaming. I just don't immerse myself in gaming culture. Sometimes I wish I would, but I like just playing them.
So I'm gonna keep playing and being a gamer girl. Because, as I said, I love playing them and that's what a gamer is.

Grown Up Fairy Tales
I love fairy tales so the fact that NBC and ABC both have shows on right now are pretty cool.
Honestly though I like ABC's Once Upon a Time a bit more. Maybe because it's not as dark as Grimm, or... who knows. Maybe it's the writing. Anyway I like how fairy tales are becoming main stream and not just in the way of Disney.
Once Upon a Time is clever in the way that while they take story book characters and put them in our world they don't make it to easy to figure out who's who. I mean this in the way that in the fairy tale world Cinderella is of course Cindrella. In our world, her name is Ashley.
They still connect it, ASHley, CINDERella, but it's not obvious. Another example is the Evil Queen is Regina in the real world and in Latin Regina meAns queen. I love subtle things like that. Where you don't make the connection unless you really think about it.
It's a good show and I'm glad they ordered a full season of it.
There's also Grimm this season, which I'm still not sure if I like. And two Snow White movies coming out. I wish they would come out with something other than Snow White though. It just seems overdone

Is it really Ever Over?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 came out yesterday so I'm going to post a bunch of funny/cool or amusing HP stuff I've found online. Mainly on Pintrest.com. The best website I've found in a while to just waste time on or find cool crafts and suchings. HP fans are so creative.
Favorite scene EVER
I got my first Harry Potter book as a Hannukah present and didn't read it right away. I then got over that and read it and have been hooked ever since. I then refused to watch the movies because I thought they would ruin the books. Things changed but I learned how to take the movie as a movie and the books as awesomeness. I have been to two midnight releases and gotten the books on the first day of release from Prizoner of Azkaban on. I love how the series has gotten kids and adults to start reading again and bring sci-fi and fantasy back to somewhat mainstream. Harry Potter is just good writing, and a good story. And I'm sad that's over. But when something is this beloved is it really ever over?

So Yesterday....
I meant to post this yesterday but got hit with a killer sinus headache so here it is today!
On this day, November 10, in 1969 Sesame Street debuted. I remember watching it when I was little and there's a family story that while on a family trip I was left with my mom's best friend while my parents took my brother hiking and I didn't stop screaming until Sesame Street was on.
Sesame Street is such an institution especially for us kids of the 80's. I think I liked the music more than anything else. And Cookie Monster. And Grover. Well SuperGrover. And Big Bird's dog....or was it Snuffy's? He was orange and white and shaggy. But back to the music, C is for Cookie, Rubber Ducky, Put down the Ducky, which followed me to high school where saxophone became clarinet. Same syllables. It worked. The learning stuff was always there of course but I don't remember it as a huge impacting factor. It must have been but that's the best learning in my opinion, when you don't realize it's happening.
I don't watch the show anymore, but I learned some signs, some spanish and a ton of other things.
Here are some videos I found:
C is for Cookie!
I forgot about this one! Doing The Pidegon!
This one used to freak me out. I totally forgot about it. I guess I blocked it out.
Put Down the Duckie!
Rubber Ducky
Echo!!
I remember laughing hysterically at this one.
I forgot about a lot of these clips but I remember how much I loved them, or how much they scared me, now that I look back and see them.
I also love that I watched some of the same clips in sesame street that my brother did 5 years earlier that I'm sure they still play other things that I watched that my kids'll watch. Sesame street is a childhood staple.
Happy Birthday Sesame Street!

Ok this is just cool.
This is a link to an article about how things in sci fi movies are happening and how some movies might have to change in light of new developments that were discovered such as Hover crafts and faster than light space travel!
Go read it! Let me know what you think!

A sad day for the Family Circus
I grew up reading the sunday comics. For Better or For Worse, Hi and Lois, Beetle Bailey, Heathcliff, Calvin and Hobbes, and Family Circus among others, so it saddens me to post this, but Bil Keane, creator of Family Circus passed away today. I always loved that comic, and even though it's a little dated and a lot religious at times, it's a staple for the funnies. Luckily he had a good long life, a large family and will forever live within the Family Circus.

Feeling rather special....I'm a dork. hah
So today I was looking at my Geek_OutCom twitter account and saw that someone retweeted my Tweet about how John Sheppard from Stargate Atlantis, which I just started watching, reminds me a lot of Zane from Eureka. I don't know why but the fact that I was retweeted by someone I don't know got me all kinds of excited. I just wanted to tell everyone! The fact that someone likes what I tweeted that isn't someone I know outside of the internet, actually to be honest I don't know if they even follow me, it just awesome and made me feel special. Yes it happens every day but not to me.
Also, I completely geeked out at dinner tonight, to the point of interrupting my brother ordering his dinner with the waitress, because one of the other people at the table told me that they were now selling stuffed Adipose at my local Suncoast. I may be going there tomorrow to get one. Just the fact it's AT THE MALL and I don't have to order it or pay $50 at a con for it makes me want to go one NOW. I was so excited. Still am actually.
To end the post, I leave you with this:

A Whole New World......
So a little while ago, Blizzard announced that they were coming out with a new World of Warcraft expansion pack. My first thought was Yay! new stuff! Not that I'm anywhere near being topped out on the current expansion but still. Then they announced Pet Battles. Which I've come to hear is like the old school Pokemon battles only with your pets. Okay that's pretty cool. I like collecting pets and it's a little annoying that they kinda just sit there or follow you. It'll be cool to be able to do something with them.
Today I was talking to my friend Lauren, who I got into playing WoW and she is now way more involved with it then I ever was which I take full pride and credit for, told me that one of the new characters you get to play is a PANDA! Ok techniqually the new race is called a Pandaren but you can be a monk which, I don't know much about yet but it seems that you can be a tank and a healer as one. Which I always like. The expansion is called Mists of Pandaria and I know I'm a few weeks behind here on the excitement of it, but I'm still excited.
You get to start in a brand new starting zone, a brand new world and when you hit a certain level, THAT's where you decided whether to be alliance or horde. It's going to be interesting because you won't know who's with you and who's against you until it's possibly to late. I think going to a new world, is gonna be good. I mean I know Cat came out with new quests and all, but it's going to be nice playing in a world that isn't totally destroyed. Thanks Deathwing.
I was just looking at the racial stats at the Pandaren. First of all, one of them is call Bouncy. I frakking love Blizzard's sense of humor(speaking of which, anyone else get the sonic screwdriver? I refuse to do that quest so I keep the thing.). It basically means that Pandaren's take 50% less falling damage but just to call it Bouncy? Awesome. And another trait is basically a version of the Vulcan Death Grip. But instead of killing it puts the target to sleep when you touch a secret pressure point on an enemy target, putting it to sleep for 3 seconds. Could definitely be useful. Especially in duels. Heh.
Oh. And the whole world is on the back of a turtle. I don't know why that amuses me so much.
In the new class race as Monk you get to roll, do a spinning crane kick, do damage, defense and healing. I love that. My first WoW character was a Night Elf Priest because I wanted to heal. Well, I realized really fast that that got boring while working in a guild. I tend to run into things. Not as much as some others in the guild(Zamm) but still, it happens. So then I started with a hunter because I love being able to do damage and it's also like having an extra character with you, my cat's name is Merri and she's awsome. Even when Cataclysm let us add other hunting pets, I still pretty much stick with Merri. But then I couldn't heal my friends or myself very well. So I kinda love the being able to do both thing.
I'm going to sign up for the promise to play WoW for a year thing, the new annual contract they started so I can play the beta version when it comes out. People at Blizzcon said it was amazing so I'm willing to try so I don't have to wait until the new expansion's out.
Oh and did I mention? I GET TO BE A PANDA!!!!!

A sampler I need to try
So I've found that there are a ton of TV shows that I want to start watching. Or should have watched a while ago. Luckily a lot of them (Battlestar, Caprica, Weeds, Merlin, Stargate, The Walking Dead, X-Files) are on Netflix streaming. I also want to start watching Chuck, Fringe, Game of Thrones, Ringer, Supernatural, Nikita, thinking about Sarah Connor Chronicles. I feel like there are awesome shows out there that I have never seen or just never wanted to see until now. I also need to rewatch Dollhouse.
Anybody else have any suggestions? Leave a comment if you do.

Oh how I miss this Cast.....
Okay so I had all these topics to talk about, trying to decide which to write about first, then I saw this:
It needed to be seen. I FREAKING LOVE THIS CAST!!!!
Okay other things in the past few days I've completely geeked out over.
Farnsworth APP! on Itunes: I love Warehouse 13 and would love to have a case to put my phone or my new ipod into that looks like a Farnsworth from Warehouse. Just because they are that cool. But I can see how it would be inconvient for carrying around in a pocket. I always wonder how they're comfortable to carry. But see this let's you make your iphone/pod/pad into a Farnsworth! My problem with it? That(at least as far as I can tell, let me know if I'm wrong) you can only use it with other Farnsworth users. :( And now I feel like a commercial.
So yeah I don't have it yet, but for .99 I'm seriously contemplating.
I mentioned this on my twitter feed but this week's Castle was honestly one of the best episodes I've seen of the show in a while. I love Nathan Fillion (Big Damn Hero!) but Beckett annoys me sometimes. Everyone else? I like. But this episode was just good. Basically a bank Castle and his Mom are in get robbed. The people that rob the place? Trapper John M.D., Dr. Huxtable, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and Dr. Doogie Howser. How freaking cool is that? I mean, yeah they're robbers but that's just awesome.
For random little thoughts and cool retweets, follow me on Twitter! @geek_outcom
